The Belleville Running Club, informally organized in 2005, was founded with the simple goal of trying to
assemble like minded individuals (runners) to share the often mundane task of the “long run.” Over the years,
the BRC has developed into quite a bit more. Although we have only recently become officially organized, many
of us have formed some pretty good friendships while developing a civic-minded group that promotes and
supports running in the Belleville area.
The official purpose of the BRC (per our bylaws) is to promote and encourage running as a sport and as a means
of healthful exercise in our community; to promote and conduct races or other activities; to disseminate
information through newsletters, flyers, presentations, meetings, and educational programs; and to offer
opportunities for organized and informal socializing by members.
In addition to our group runs, we have been involved in the Belleville Chili Cookoff, we enter teams in the
annual River to River Relay, we have participated in the Get Up and Go campaign, and we participate in the
city’s adopt-a-trail program.
Our membership ranges from beginning runners training for their first 5K to runners that have completed dozens
of marathons.
Hopefully this will answer most of your questions about the Belleville Running Club. If you have any
additional questions, please feel free to e-mail us.
There are water fountains and restrooms at the Belleville MetroLink station and we always break for water
at the end of each lap.
Our ultimate goal is to have a diverse group or runners who run a wide variety of paces.
Please see our Membership page for ordering information or visit or online store.
We typically run a 3-mile or 5-mile loop. Feel free to run as many or as few laps as you’d like.
