Due to the current ice / snow on the ground and pending snow, ice, and generally miserable weather forecasted for tomorrow, the first Couch to 5K Training Session scheduled for Monday, March 3rd, will be cancelled. We will meet at 6pm on Monday, March 10, 2014 at the BLV East Track for the second week. The complete schedule can be found on our website at http://bellevillerunningclub.com/training-beginner/.
Although we cannot meet as a group tomorrow, all Couch to 5k participants are encouraged to complete this week’s workouts nonetheless. Tomorrow’s workout can be completed on a treadmill or indoor track (if you have access).
This week’s workout is as follows: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for a total of 20 minutes. The workout is to be completed three times a week. Typically, the first workout will be held on Mondays at Belleville East and participants are asked to complete the other two workouts on their own. On Wednesday nights, there will be a BRC rep at SWIC (Southwestern Illinois College) at 6pm near the tennis courts should anyone wish to do their training on SWIC’s trail. This training will be on your own, so you will need to bring a stopwatch to determine when you alternate jogging and walking.
