A group of runners in & around Belleville, IL

Group Runs

Our weekly group runs occur on:

  • Mondays, 6pm, Belleville East Track Suspended until a later date
  • Tuesdays, 6pm, Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows
  • Thursdays, 6pm, downtown Belleville
  • Saturdays, 8am, downtown Belleville

Mondays (speedwork) Speedwork will resume at some point it time

We meet on Monday evenings at approximately 6:00pm at the Belleville East High School Track. Since events occasionally pop up, we are sometimes forced to hold speedwork elsewhere. Please make certain that you are on our Yahoo Group and/or Facebook Group so that you receive information on any changes to the time or location.

Tuesdays (Hills) Will resume after Daylight Savings Time (First run on March 14th)

We meet at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows on Tuesday nights at 6:00pm for hill workouts. We meet in the parking lot by the restaurant. Please make certain that you are on our Yahoo Group and/or Facebook Group so that you receive information on any changes to the time or location. This will continue until daylight savings time ends in the fall.

As Daylight Savings Time ends in the fall, we meet at Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC) on Tuesday evenings at 6:00pm for a run along a well lit trail. We meet in the parking lot just north of the Metrolink stop. The trail is about 1.4 miles around, it’s well lit, there are good bathrooms, and there is water. Please make certain that you are on our Facebook Group and Yahoo Group so that you receive information on any changes to the time or location. This will continue until daylight savings time begins in the spring.

Toolen’s Running Start also hosts a Tuesday night speedwork at 5:30pm from their store in Shiloh. Call the store at (618) 628-9898 for more information.

Thursdays (social night) –

We meet on Thursday evenings at 6:00 pm behind the St Louis Bread Company in downtown Belleville. Since the lot directly behind St Louis Bread Company is always too crowded on Thursday nights, we meet in the parking lot at the northwest corner of “A” and “North Jackson” streets, adjacent to Casa Maria Mexican Grill (100 N. High St).

We run a course that consists of a 3 mile loop as shown below, although many people run the 5 mile loop shown below with the Saturday run. Please see the temporary route during construction on the trail – 3 Mile Route – https://www.plotaroute.com/routeplayer/295700

This is referred to as social night since many of our members often go out for dinner or a drink afterwards

Saturdays (the long run)

We meet on Saturday mornings at 8:00 am in the parking lot behind the St Louis Bread Company (aka Panera Bread Company, 113 East Main St) in downtown Belleville.

We run a course that consists of a 5 mile loop. However, this distance and start times can vary during the marathon training sessions.

Many of our members who are training for a half marathon or marathon often run multiple laps on Saturday mornings. This is when they get in their “long run” for the week.

Hello – I run the RRCA Club in Alexandria, VA and will be home in Waterloo, IL for Labor Day. Going to try and join ya’ll for the Saturday run! I’m running Marine Corp Marathon this year so this is a taper weekend for me. 5-10 miles probably at 11-12 pace. Anyone else doing the same?

I didn’t see the running group on the calendar for Tuesday nights…will that still take place at SWIC? And how long does it usually go for?

It’s up there now. Yes, that will still take place on Tuesday nights and will pretty much go through until daylight savings time starts again.

Hi everyone. Happy New Year! I wanted to let you know about a great new running app that’s dedicated to helping runners connect by making it easy to post and find group runs. The app is called Runopia. It’s totally free. I went ahead and loaded your runs on the app so you can see how simple it is. I loaded a full year’s worth of your runs based on the info you posted on your website. Check out the Runopia app and if you would like to plan your own on runs on there and have your group start using it I can help you with that. Just let me know.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2017!

    -Lauren
